Golden Time to Explore Power Market in China
The era of "Energy Saving & Carbon Emission Reduction" has arrived in China!

Diminishing finite fossil resources and increasing costs of oil, gas and coal have been the significant threats for future energy security worldwide. Under the CDM context, the serious environmental problems caused by the traditional sources also generated more and more attention. All these determine the importance of developing the alternative energy.

From policy perspective, Chinese government has already tailored the ambitious development plan for nuclear and renewable energy. The associated investment/resources & encouraging financial policies will be further strengthened. In the capital market, investment from venture capital & private equity are surged into new energy sector.

Be involved in China power market, one of the burgeoning and promising stars in the world!

On April 13, 2007, establishment of national natural uranium reserve was first raised as part of “The 11th 5-year Nuclear Development Plan”. This is the 3rd national reserve plan after food supplies & oil, and aim to meet the uranium needs of the nuclear development plan by 2020. World natural uranium is mainly in Canada, Kazakhstan, Australia and South Africa. It is noted that more investment are flow into South Africa recently. “I will be very pleased to share with Chinese industrial peers the UraMin’s 3 undergoing projects and our development plan.” said Ian Stalker, the CEO of UraMin Inc. The market price of uranium has doubled during the past year -- rising from USD36.50 per pound U3O8 at the beginning of 2006, up to USD72.00 at the end of the year. The price is currently USD75 per pound U3O8. Will the price of uranium rise to the point of making new nuclear power plants uneconomical? How the price will change in future? The president, Jeff Combs of UxC Consulting Company has extensive knowledge in this area.

Wind power is regarded as one of the most promising renewable energy sector. Top 4 global equipment manufacturers, Vestas, Gamesa, GE & Suzlon are all focusing its strength and energy in China. By now, all of them have set up the plants in China and looking forward for the prosperous growth in China. Although enrich natural resource, prevalent technology commercialization and abundant investment provide huge potential for developing wind power, absence of effective pricing mechanism discouraged investor’s interest. A series of the encouraging financial policies are expected to be release in mid 2007. It is necessary to gather wind developers, manufacturers, engineering consultants and industrial experts to identity what is lacking now and how to accelerate China’s wind power development?

Apparently, bottleneck of solar power industry is polysilicon supply. However, it also stimulates the alternative technology innovation. The future solar power industry will surely be more flourishing & diversified! America is the technological pioneer in the world. Recently President Bush authorized 1 billion in solar power R & D, and claim to massively increase the production and able to make the solar power price be as competitive as the traditional sources within 7-9 years. The investors placed loads of interests on the new technology such as CIGS and module reprocessing. BIPV application system is also believed to have huge potential especially due to the incoming 2008 Olympic and 2010 World Expo in China. Now it is the best time to get ready for the flourishing & diversified solar power industry to obtain optimal resource utilization & maximum market share!

The 3rd Annual China Power & Alternative Energy Summit 2007 designed by the China Electricity Counci and co-organized by the China Society of Power Engineering and Energy of China Journal, will be held on 16th – 18th May, 2007 in Beijing. It is designed to seize the pulse of China’s power sector reform, in-depth examine nuclear and renewable energy industries, present associated solutions and forecast future trend, It is a genius platform and opportunities for the leading decision-makers around the world and top level government officials involved in the energy industry.
